This December, something truly special is happening just a stone’s throw away from the Amsterdam Hotel in Earls Court.
For the first time ever, Disney’s recent adaptation of beloved classic, Beauty and The Beast, will be screened with an accompanying live score courtesy of the world-renowned Philharmonia Orchestra.
The latest instalment in the Royal Albert Hall’s well-received ‘Films in Concert’ series, the show takes place on Saturday, December 9th, and sees Emma Watson star as Belle, the eponymous beauty of this magical fairytale.
Speaking of magical, that’s exactly what you and your family can expect when you experience Beauty and The Beast in Concert with a live orchestra in what is sure to be the perfect, pre-Christmas treat for all ages.
One of the Most Enchanting Tales Ever Told
Following Belle’s journey as she is encaptured by the Beast and held captive in his grand castle, this all-time classic sees her learn more about the kind heart that lies beneath his horrifying surface in a true happily-ever-ever-after tale of love, tenderness, and inner-beauty that is brought bewitchingly to life by a host of memorable musical performances.
It’s that music which forms the heart of Beauty and The Beast in Concert – with famous numbers like Be Our Guest and Something There being brought up to date by Academy award-winning composer Alan Menken. Menken has also teamed with Grammy award-winning lyricist, Sir Tim Rice to write three brand new songs specifically for 2017’s version of the story.
Those songs, along with Menken’s captivating, emotional score, will be performed live by the Philharmonia Orchestra as the movie itself plays out on Royal Albert Hall’s big screen.
An All-Star Cast
Whilst the music alone may make this very special performance worth the short journey from our hotel in Earls Court, the perfectly-placed cast also do a fine job in breathing a whole new lease of life into the Beauty and the Beast we all know and love so well.
Starring opposite Emma Watson’s Belle, Downton Abbey heartthrob Dan Stevens undergoes a radical transformation as The Beast, whilst major names like Sir Ian McKellen, Ewan McGregor, and Emma Thompson make up a stellar supporting cast.
Part of the Royal Albert Hall’s Films in Concert Series
If you can’t get enough of seeing Emma Watson on screen at the Royal Albert Hall, worry not; she’ll be back next year in her most famous role as Hermione Granger in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.
The second Harry Potter film screens live next April, accompanied by the world renowned BBC Concert Orchestra performing John Williams’s remarkable score.
Both performances form part of the Royal Albert Hall’s Films in Concert series, combining classic movies with a live orchestra.
The series has so far proven a big hit with fans staying at our nearby hotel in Earls Court thanks to unique performances of Hollywood staples like Jaws, Titanic, and E.T The Extra-Terrestrial.
